Dictionary:
MENARCHE= 1st menstrual bleeding, usually at age 11-16
MENOPAUSE= starts 12 months after the last menstrual cycle, usually between age 45-55, woman’s estrogen levels decline
MENSTRUATION = PERIOD = menstrual bleeding, partly blood, partly tissue; sign that pregnancy didn’t occur; menstruation usually occurs once per month (regular menstruation); usually occurs on 21-36 days and lasts 2-7 days;
MENSTRUAL CYLE = time between first day of one period and first day of the next period; long menstrual cycles are common in the first years after the menstruation begins, as you age usually shorten and become more regular.
OVULATION = when egg is released from the ovary; during ovulation is the highest chance to get pregnant if live sperm are in the fallopian tubes
DYSMENORRHEA = painful menstrual cramps
PMS = premenstrual syndrome = physical, mental, behavioral symptoms with various severities
